KITESURF

What is Kitesurfing ?

The “kite” as it is more often called is a sport that is practiced on water most often but also on land or snow if necessary. Its concept remains relatively simple you need: a board at the foot, a kind of large inflatable kite connected by lines has a control bar and that’s it gone more than to be pulled by the wind …

Simple as that on paper as always! However, kitesurfing is still classified as an “extreme” sport because there is a risk component, but don’t worry, that’s where we come in.

Why Kitesurfing ?

Well, the question is what got you into this sport? Something crazy!

Simple answer, it gives me a lot of pleasure and sensations that no other sport can offer you. You can totally disconnect from nature and enjoy the combination of nature and the elements.

It is also a sport that requires mental strength but also perseverance, not to mention the muscular side where your body is solicited from all sides!

In kiteboarding, you get stronger ? no kidding ! Let’s be clear, you don’t need to be very strong to start kitesurfing but all you risk is to become one, of course in this position if you do a lot of kitesurfing sessions you’ll end up with abs and buttocks made of steel !

How does an lesson at WINGISCHOOL work ?

  • We offer 3 adapted levels or a trial session to see if you want to go further with us.
  • The meeting point is on the spot.
  • We provide you with equipment but you can also come with your own.
  • Our courses take place over 3 hour sessions with predefined time slots.
  • Prerequisite: you can swim more than 50m without ending up in the emergency room and you still remember the last time you did sports? Then you’re in!
  • Finally, you weigh at least 40 kilos and are wet? Whether you are 7 or 77 years old, you are welcome to come and try the experience!

In short, no daredevil here! You don’t need to be physically fit, so in the end, a few hours of lessons and a good dose of fun will be enough and we’ll take care of that for you. Find details on our levels below.

More details on the course of the pack

We have broken down the learning process of kitesurfing into 13 stages.

Day 1 (3h) step 1 to 5

Step 1. The theory of kitesurfing and wind.

An important part of the course, too often neglected but indispensable o build the foundations of a future champion. OK  “you must have”! 3 solid bases :

  1. Where does the wind come from
  2. Wind directions and the best for kitesurfing.
  3. The wind window theory

Step 2. The installation of the sail and lines.

Inflate the kite and connect the lines before take-off.

Step 3. The internal workings of the bar and the safety system.

Using the bar and its steering system to give the kite more or less power.

It is crucial to understand and learn the three safety systems of the kite.

DROP……….. the bar !!! ( Don’t worry, you’ll understand later)

Step 4. The rescue technique.

This technique is designed to teach you how to get back on solid ground in case you have a problem. Not to be overlooked ! Trust me.

Step 5. Kite control

Mastering the kite is one of the most important steps, because kitesurfing is 80% about controlling the sail.

In this step, you should control the flight of the kite with both hands and with one hand, which will help you to enter into the water by holding the kite and the board at the same time.

Level 1 – it’s THE pack ! “FROM ZERO TO HERO”

Here you have the complete kit ! The objective of this pack is very simple come as you are and at the end of the day the kite should have no more secrets for you, at that moment it will only remain to fly with your own wings.

Day 2 (3h) step 5 to 8

Step 6. The Body dragging

Mastered the kite in the water this time quite nicely.

In this stage you have to control the flight of the kite in different directions and evolve on the water thanks to the traction it starts to give you.

Step 7. The “Power Stroke”

Here you learn how to give power to your wing.
This is a necessary exercise to know how to get up out of the water and on the board in the next step.

Step 8. The “Water start” with your teacher.

This is certainly the most wanted step by all students and perhaps one of the most difficult.

With the board at your feet, you use the power of the kite to get on the board and start riding. Your teacher will be in the water right behind you to assist you in your first attempts.

Day 3 (3h) step 9 to 10

Step 9. The “Water start” on your owns.

Once you are confident enough to try your water start alone, your teacher will guide you from the beach.

Step 10. Sailing downwind.

Mastering your water start will take you straight to the water. This is the moment when you feel like you are kiting for the first time! This is often the moment when you realise that you are hooked for life.

You are sailing alone but still downwind. During this process, your teacher will guide and assist you from the beach. After each downwind run, it’s the “Walk of Shame” along the beach, back to the starting point. Don’t worry, we all made it. Don’t worry, we’ve all made it. You’ve made it

Day 4 (3h) step 11 to 13

Step 11. The Up wind

Going upwind is the key… THE GRAIIIL! This is what separates the beginners from the advanced riders. It basically means that you ride against the wind, zigzagging to get upwind.

Step 12. Transitions and change of direction.

You navigate in both directions, now you learn the transitions to change direction. The “stop and start” transition is the first one.

Step 13. Jumps, Strapless

You master your transition smoothly, last and final step I let you imagine Backloop et and the other figures from now on it’s only FUN.

Niveau 2 – le pack “THE CHAMPION PROJECT”

Come on, just a little more effort to feel like a fish in water. You wish to validate some of the skills acquired during a previous course, we will review them together at the beginning of the course in order to progress at your own pace, with the objective of achieving autonomy and the last few steps that will open the doors to paradise.
